About The Rhode Island Theater & Performance Art Meetup Group

Hi, Everyone,
Abi asked me to help out by taking on the job of organizer. She has done a great job building this group, and I'm thrilled to follow in her footsteps.

Theatres
The group is for theatre lovers to meet up and go to shows together. Providence has some amazing theatre -- PPAC, Trinity Rep, the Gamm, Brown University, URI, etc. So whatever your passion is -- dramas, musicals, touring Broadway shows, college plays, whatever -- you can probably find someone who has the same interests.

Tickets
It's often tricky to get a block of seats together, particularly at venues like PPAC, so you may want to find just one or two people to go see a play with you. Even if you can't get seats together at first, you may want to arrange to meet beforehand for dinner, and then try to buy tickets together the next time.

Some basics about how the group works:

* Check the CALENDAR, or websites for local theatre companies, to find plays that appeal to you.

* If you're looking for someone to go with you, post the show you are interested in in the MESSAGE BOARDS, along with the dates/times you can attend.

* Contact others through the MESSAGE BOARDS and the MEETUP.COM EMAIL to coordinate going to shows together and/or meeting each other before or after the show.

In addition to this, we will have Meetups as a group once a month or so, in order to keep a "group" feel and for people to meet and greet in a larger setting. We'll plan to go for drinks or dessert after a show, and will let everyone know the date.
